Book Tour: Final Week in Review!

Posted on

The final push of our Book Tour took us to Liverpool and across the Irish Sea!

Liverpool

On Tuesday, we met the Homotopia team. They commissioned the piece for the Ghanian section of our cookbook from the artist Christian Asare. We were lucky enough to catch them amidst their preparations for their annual LGBTQIA festival. It starts later this month, with tickets still available through their website. We met them at the Bistro of Blackburne House – a fantastic social enterprise that reinvests all profits into education of women in Liverpool.

Blackburne House is also the home of the North-West branch of the School for Social Entrepreneurs. They’ve supported Bounceback’s development since 2014 with their ‘Start Up, Trade Up & Scale Up’ programmes.

Belfast

Then, after a busy three weeks, our final event of the tour was hosted by ArtsEkta in Belfast! We met Nisha and the rest of the team (along with some other familiar faces!) We also got to meet the talented artist Rong-Gen, who produced the artwork for the Chinese section of the book (pictured below). It was great to meet him and to learn more about his commitment to his art.

In Belfast, we recorded the last podcast interviews of the book tour. These conversations have been informative, inspiring and often surprising. We are looking forward to releasing Season 2 in  late November and sharing these stories with a wider audience. You can listen to the Season 2 trailer and the entirety of Season 1 via Spotify, Apple and Google Podcasts.

Finishing the tour has been bittersweet but it’s allowed us to reflect on how Secret Dishes From Around the World 3 has been a truly collaborative project. It has also allowed us to make connections across the UK in locations where we plan to establish Bounceback Food delivery teams.
