This year we’ll be launching an annual Food Poverty Innovation Award! The award will support early stage social entrepreneurs, community groups and charities who want to test new ideas to tackle food poverty in their community.
We began our fight against food poverty in 2014 after receiving a £250 grant that enabled us to test the ‘buy one, give one’ model with nutritious items of food to help stock foodbanks. The early stage financial support validated our attempt to tackle the food poverty challenge in an original way. Since, we’ve extended the model to our public cookery courses and we’re continuing to develop our community cookery school to a nationwide organisation.
In 2021, our central team in Manchester began the process of establishing delivery teams in towns and cities across the UK. We’re partnering with superb local initiatives in the process, who we can support with our community cookery school. However, one organisation alone, or indeed a collaborative network, won’t solve food poverty in the UK. So, we are committing annually to support early stage social entrepreneurs, community groups and charities who share our ambition to eradicate food poverty nationwide and recognise the need to develop new, ambitious ideas within their community!
