Episode Notes for the Share Your Secrets Podcast Season 3, including useful links to resources.
The generosity of funding organisations and individuals has always been vital for the growth of Bounceback Food CIC. We started out with a £250 grant that funded the development of our first market stall, and have since grown to support communities across the country.
However, as a social enterprise, we recognise the importance of moving away from grant funding towards self-sustainability.
Through our ‘buy one, give one’ cookery workshops, we have been able to create a financially viable and truly inclusive Community Cookery School. From 2019-2021, we developed, wrote and published our popular Secret Dishes From Around the World cookbook trilogy to help fund our outreach work.
In 2021, we launched our Food Poverty Innovation Award. This £250 grant, start up support and mentoring from our central team will develop another project fighting food poverty elsewhere in the UK. Just as Bounceback Food began with a small grant, we hope to help other social entrepreneurs support their own community.
In 2022, we are developing a greater range of fundraiser merchandise. The new products (chopping boards, recipe calendars and tote bags) will help us as we expand nationwide and establish Bounceback Food teams across the UK. By 2024, we aim to have teams operational in at least 20 different locations.
We aim for our non-profit social enterprise to be self-sustainable by 2024. Until then, we would love to hear from you and explore how our partnership could help to accelerate growth and scale up our social impact.
