Our Story
Bounceback Food started in 2014 as a local initiative in the North West, supporting foodbanks and people living in food poverty through our ‘buy one, give one’ model. You can find out more about our story here!
However, as the economic impact of the pandemic started to unfold in 2020, it became clear that we needed to scale up our model to support people living in food poverty nationwide. Over the past 2 years, we’ve been building a community cookery school that can support people living in food poverty across the UK!
Our Aim
At present, our team in central Manchester is focused on building delivery teams in the largest 20 towns and cities across the UK. Each delivery team will:
- PROVIDE – ensure foodbanks are stocked with good quality items of nutritious food and hygiene products
- CATER – cook and distribute hot, nutritious meals to the people who need it most
- EDUCATE – provide people with the opportunity to learn how to cook for free
- SUSTAIN – enable them to learn about cooking, budgeting, nutrition, meal planning and reducing food waste with free access to our online Cooking & Nutrition Portal
- EMPLOY – support people with career progression in the food industry
Collectively, each delivery team will contribute to the nationwide fight towards eradicating food poverty in the UK. By the end of 2021, our aim is to have established 3 delivery teams, with the ultimate goal of establishing all 20 delivery teams by the end of 2024.

In order to reach this goal, we’re aiming to raise £5,000 by the end of 2021.
We will use these funds to:
- Purchase new cookery equipment for the delivery teams nationwide
- Increase the size of our team in central Manchester to speed up the training and development of new delivery teams
