As the economic impact of COVID-19 starts to unfold, it’s clear that sadly more and more people across the UK will require the emergency provision of food from foodbanks and end up living in food poverty as a result of the pandemic. We can’t just sit back and watch that happen and so our team in central Manchester is now focussed on building a community cookery school that supports people living in food poverty across the UK by:
- Ensuring their nearest foodbank is stocked with good quality items of nutritious food & hygiene products.
- Providing them the opportunity to learn how to cook for free and supporting them with career progression in the food industry.
- Providing free hot nutritious meals at community events.
- Enabling them to learn about cooking, budgeting, nutrition, meal planning and reducing food waste with the provision of free access to our Cooking & Nutrition Portal.
We’re making good progress with the above and expect to have additional delivery teams in 5 towns and cities by the end of 2021, but we want to scale up our social impact as quickly as possible…that’s where you come in!
