Simple comfort food at its finest. The cheese and onion toastie is an all time classic that can easily be put together without any special gadgets.
2 slices |
bread, buttered on both sides |
60g |
cheddar, grated |
1/4 of 1 |
brown onion, sliced |
salt and pepper, to taste |
1. Arrange the cheese evenly across one slice of bread, then place the onions on top.
2. Add any seasoning then place the second slice of bread on top.
3. Place the sandwich on a pan over medium heat, then place a heavy heat proof object such as a pan or bowl on top of the sandwich to press it down.
4. Once the cheese has begun to melt, flip the sandwich to cook the other side, if the bread is beginning to burn turn the pan to a low heat.
5. Once the cheese has fully melted, serve.
Add some chilli sauce for a little extra flavour.
