A really fun and friendly dish which only requires a few ingredients.
6 | sausages |
2 | eggs, beaten |
150g | plain flour |
170ml | semi-skimmed milk |
1 tsp | butter |
salt, to taste |
1. Preheat the oven to 200°C/180°C fan/ gas mark 6. Line a casserole dish with a tsp worth of butter, place the sausages on the tray and cook for 7 minutes.
2. While the sausages get cooking, sieve the flour into a mixing bowl with the salt, create a well in the middle and add the egg. Mix together with a whisk and being to incrementally add the milk, whisking as you go until a batter forms.
3. Remove the sausages from the oven, and place on a side dish. Check that the casserole dish has sufficient butter to keep the bottom from drying out and if necessary, add more. Pour the mixture into the casserole dish then arrange the sausages on top. Cover with tin foil and cook for 25 minutes.
4. Remove the tinfoil cook for further 10 minutes or until a golden brown colour on top, then serve.
Check on your dish as it cooks, excess juice from the sausages may sit on top of dish, strain this off and use for a delicious gravy!
