Pitta bread

This recipe for pitta bread has a lovely hint of lemon and is quick and easy to make too! 

Ingredients

100g self-raising flour
70ml soya milk
1/3 tsp bicarbonate of soda
squeeze lemon juice
salt, to taste
olive oil

Method

  1. Pre-heat your over to 220°C/200°C fan/ gas mark 6.
  2. Weigh out your flour into a mixing bowl. Add the bicarb and salt and stir thoroughly.
  3. Pour in the milk and lemon juice then mix vigorously to form a dough.
  4. Roll each ball out flat (approx. 1⁄2cm) then add to a frying pan 2 at a time.
  5. Knead the dough onto a flour dusted surface then divide equally into 4 and roll into balls.
  6. Cook on a high heat for 1 minute, then flip for 30 seconds. Next, transfer to your oven to finish and keep warm (approx. 5 minutes). 

Chef’s tips

Serve with olive oil/balsamic vinegar to dip.
