10 tasty recipes that don’t require an oven or a stove – part 1 (1-5)

Check out these 5 tasty no-cook recipes! All you’ll need is a blender and a microwave to get these meals ready in no time!


1.Bean Salad
A bean salad can be a tasty and refreshing addition to any meal, or on its own! It works well with a can of mixed beans, some fresh chopped tomatoes, green beans, sweetcorn, olives, herbs and some crumbled feta to finish it off. The great thing about this salad, is that it is so versatile and will work with so many combinations of what you might have in your cupboards or fridge. You can finish it off with a dressing of your choice, a lemon and mustard drizzle works especially well though!

2.Coleslaw
A cabbage can go a long way, and coleslaw is a great way to use it up. Mix together chopped cabbage (of any variety), grated carrots and a handful of coriander or parsley, add a couple of table spoons of mayonnaise and season to taste, and you already have an easy no cook meal.

3.Tabbouleh
Tabbouleh is a simple Mediterranean salad of very finely chopped vegetables (tomatoes, spring onions, cucumber, spices), lots of fresh parsley and bulgur wheat, all tossed with lime juice and olive oil. This dish, with its combination of fresh ingredients and citrusy twist is another great addition to the lunch or dinner table, and adds a great splash of colour!

4.Gazpacho
This cold soup is perfect on a warm sunny day, and can take you to Spain without even leaving the kitchen! It combines tomatoes, garlic, cucumber, shallots or small onions, spices and olive oil, blended together and then chilled in the fridge. You can add croutons or bread for an extra texture, and top with a few spring onions and ice cubes.

5.No-Bake Chocolate Tiffin

And of course something sweet is needed to finish off! This chocolatey treat will be a favourite for all the family and it is quick to put together. Here’s a quick recipe!

Ingredients:

200g chocolate (milk or dark)

100g butter, plus extra for greasing

2 tbsp golden syrup

225g digestive biscuits

80g glacé cherries (optional)

50g white chocolate chunks (optional)

Equipment:

20cm square cake tin

Non-stick baking paper

Method:

  1. Microwave the chocolate, butter and golden syrup together, checking it regularly to make sure it doesn’t burn.
  2. Place the digestive biscuits in a freezer bag and bash with a rolling pin until they are broken into small pieces.
  3. Mix the melted ingredients and the biscuits together, add any extra ingredients you might like such as glacier cherries, or more chocolate!
  4. Tip the mixture into a greased square cake tin, cover and leave to chill for at leat 3 hours. Once chilled, remove from the tin and cut into bars.
