Lemongrass

Low maintenance herb, great for adding a citrus flavour to stews and curries!

Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of the compost, pressing gently. Set the pot in a shallow container of water and place inside a heated propagator.

Once they begin to germinate, arrange three in a small pot and place on a sunny, warm window sill. Once the roots grow through the bottom switch to a larger pot until the roots reach 20cm. Then the lemongrass can be planted outside during summertime.

Top tips

– Lemongrass doesn’t like frost, so make sure its kept warm and is brought indoors during the Winter and Autumn months.

– New growths may appear in Spring, make sure to feed them weekly with balanced fertiliser.
